Fortunate Son

Back

To promote a new line of jeans, a patriotic commercial incorporated two lines of Creedence Clearwater Revival's 1969 song 'Fortunate Son'. The song states that the privileged can escape war. This film examines the commercial's use of the song and the remaining eighteen lines, the real meaning of the song.... That while the privileged are safe in bed, the common man fights for his life. Note: There are actually 25 men who share Bush's birthday and who died in Vietnam. The 25th man is Guadalupe B L Garibay.
