Wallington, 2nd Alarm Heavy Fire On Arrival 156 Maple Ave

On Dec. 30th, at 7:11PM, the Wallington Fire department was dispatched to a reported fire at 156 Maple Ave. A member of the Wallington Fire Department & a member of the East Rutherford Fire Department where in the area when the call came in. The 2 firefighters entered the structure do to reports of people still in the building. Both firefighters found the occupants in the home and removed them from the structure as fire units arrived. Chiefs reported a heavy fire showing from the A side of the 2nd floor and attic area. A working fire was transmitted. A 2nd alarm was transmitted shortly after as well as an extra alarm for coverage. Co.'s attempted an interior attack only to be pushed back by heavy fire conditions. Co.'s where withdrawn and exterior opps where put into effect. Shortly after an interior attack was reestablished. And control of the fire was gained. The fire was brought under control some time around 10PM. Two received minor injuries and where transported to the hospital as well as the occupants of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
