Martin Mars Fights Fire at Shasta Lake

The Martin Mars air tanker, which arrived here June 29 from British Columbia, Canada, was called upon Tuesday, July 1, 2008, to fight the Motion Fire near Shasta Dam. The "Hawaii Mars," one of two water bombers owned by the Coulson Group and based near Port Alberni, is able to scoop up and dump as much as 7,200 gallons of water on a fire.
