Coastal Erosion on the Isle of Wight

This animation shows some of the problems caused by coastal erosion on the South West coast of the Isle of Wight. These problems can include rockfalls, landslides and the loss of land, properties and roads. It is based on historic Ordnance Survey plans, which show the rates of erosion along this part of the Isle of Wight coast can be up to 1 metre/year. This animation has been produced by the Isle of Wight Centre for the Coastal Environment, which the department within the Isle of Wight Council managing coastal and environmental issues.
