Navy Advanced Gun System (AGS) Non-combatant Evacuation Simulation Scenario. A combination of real-time modeling and simulation and rendered graphics are used to showcase the capabilited of the Advanced Gun System in a Non-combatant Evacuation scenario. AGS Virtual Integration Facility Non-combatant Evacuation Scenario (2003) The DDX destroyer with its two Advanced Gun Systems (AGS) will provide future naval expeditionary strike groups the transformational naval surface fire support and sea based strike capabilities required for the nation's emerging 421 defense strategy. Advanced Gun System (AGS) is a vertically loaded 155 mm cannon with a fully automated magazine. The gun will fire rounds up to 100 nautical mi with a sustained firing rate of 10 rounds per minute. The following operational scenario depicts a expeditionary strike group executing non-combatant evacuation operation supported by the DDX. Real time operation of this scenario would take hours to complete, therefore time compression techniques are used. The Advanced Gun System (AGS), a 21st century weapon system for a 21st century fighting force. DD(X) was also known as DD-21, and is now the DDG-1000 Zumwalt Class Destroyer.
