CalFire 72 and Neptune Tanker 43 to Malibu's Corral Fire

Back

CDF-painted (California Division of Forestry, now known as CalFire) Tanker 72 (N435DF, a Marsh SF-2 registered to USFS) taxies on Taxiway A at Fox Air Field (KWJF) in Lancaster as Neptune Tanker 43 (N443NA, a Lockheed P-2 from Montana) takes off from Runway 6 headed, I believe, to the Corral Fire in Malibu, California. Lots of activity today at the field, and that's the only major fire in the area with 23 supporting aircraft on assignment to that blaze. The U.S. Forest Service maintains a base during fire season at this airport.
