Odd comment seeing as this happened in 2007 when they were in the midst of a playoff run. Fuck you.

The Royals did already have a perfectly solid center fielder in David DeJesus, but they've been itching to move him to left. With Jose Guillen likely to play right, Mark Teahen looks like the odd man out. The Royals could go with a lineup of: CF Crisp, SS Mike Aviles, LF DeJesus, RF Guillen, 1B Jacobs, DH Billy Butler, 3B Alex Gordon, C Miguel Olivo/John Buck, 2B Alberto Callaspo

Royals acquired outfielder Coco Crisp from the Red Sox for RHP Ramon Ramirez. This looks a lot like the Mike Jacobs trade, with the Royals giving up a quality reliever in exchange for a veteran regular who may or may not be worth his salary. However, this is the better trade of the two. Crisp adds an extra $5 million to the payroll (he's due $5.75 million, while Ramirez wasn't yet arbitration eligible), but he should be decent as an everyday center fielder.

The Boston Herald reports that Coco Crisp "is again being made available and drawing interest." The rumor that he was offered for Khalil Greene is untrue. However, the newspaper quotes "one executive" as saying that 5-6 teams have shown interest in Crisp, who the Red Sox had on the trading block last offseason as well. Instead of being dealt, Crisp remained in Boston all season while hitting .283/.344/.407 in 409 plate appearances, including 98 starts in center field.

The Tacoma News Tribune's Larry LaRue believes the Red Sox are offering Coco Crisp to the Padres for Khalil Greene. And a Mariners reporter gets the scoop before any of the army of Boston scribes? Since it doesn't make much sense in the first place, don't put too much weight into this rumor. The Red Sox are likely to make Crisp available, but Greene hardly seems to be a fit with both Julio Lugo and Jed Lowrie available at shortstop and Lugo's contract making him difficult to trade.
