Their music has always been a mix and mash up thing. They have a lot of influences, so all they've created as Maroon 5 has always been a spot touching in various proportions rock, pop, blue eyed soul, power pop and even r'n'b and blues to some extent. You can't categorize them easily, which is one of the reason they are so classy and great. To know how their old music was like, you an easily go to a source about them, learn about their discography and listen to the songs: a great musical trip.
