Yes, it's understood that he did kill Moss' wife. He checks his shoes when he exits the house, which is a nod to ealier in the film when he puts his feet on the desk to avoid getting blood on them. Thus, he was probably checking them to see if he got any of her blood on his shoes. The Coen brothers tend not to spell everything out, thankfully! It makes their films far more provoking and interesting.
