I agree, lengel, However, I think Alstott could have been better if he had been better at preventing fumbles and if he had been given an opportunity to carry the ball more. Unfortunately, there really is no longer a place for White power running backs like Riggins and Alstott in the NFL anymore. Alstott could have been great, if he had more opportunities to carry the ball.

I agree, when I first heard McNeal's take on it I thought, "I don't think so, Don," but I'm sure that was what he was thinking at such an intense moment...especially considering that there was a bit of euphoria from exhaustion at the time (looking at time of possession in the second half, the Killer Bees were worn out)

Pause the video at :29 where McNeal hits him, according to the first down marker, it looks like Riggins has the first down by at least a couple feet. If McNeal had stopped him at the very least he would've prevented a touchdown in my opinion. Regardless, this play was amazing and history.

Alstott was very good . . . Riggins was GREAT. There is no comparison.

Alstott is good He could run, block and catch Over 7,000 yards combined rushing and recieving Undervalued Player for sure

Hey, What about Mike Alstott? He may not have been a featured runner like Riggins, but overall was still a great running back. hard nosed runner, good reciever, and one hellasios blocker. One of the things always heard in Tampa by armchair critics when he played was that he should get the ball a lot more than he did.

"During the time of this highlight the Patriots sucked big time." Not really, they had made it to the playoffs in 1982, lost to the Fins, then I think they missed the playoffs for a couple of years and made it to SB XX against the Bears.

Interesting thing is that according to Don McNeal; "'Great, I'm gonna win the game right here,' because I HAD HIM FOR A LOSS. And I just bounced right off of him, and I'm thinking, man I just lost the game for us."
