no shit well done for being able to play dnb drums but no dnb/jungle heads wana hear it live, only jojo's fans that probably stand there analyzing him.

"DJs thought no one could play that fast".But JoJo can. Well hurrah for JoJo, if I tried that my mofo arms would fall off. Besides 2 points:Firstly what is great about a drum kit in a rave club? It kinda poops the party I mean people will stop dancing, taking their clothes off and popping pills and stand there lifeless obliged to watch JoJo Mayer masturbating on his drumkit at 170 beats per minute. Secondly there is nothing cool about being praised by people with names like 'DJ Yoshi' and 'z-mc'

does anyone know how to get ahold of their album, I just found out they released an album a couple of years ago, and I cant find it anywhere!!!!

Surely. The nature of music and of the culture surrounding it tends toward constant progression. My comment was just suggesting that there are people out there making phenomenal jazz and funk in a modern context (albeit different from 50's or 60's stuff). True, maybe he's just yearning for something that is intangible, and unique to 50's and 60's jazz. That being said, I'm not asking him for a justification of his work, but merely an explanation that goes further then a generalized claim.

Of course jazz isn't dead in general outline. And I don't say that I totally agree with Jojo... but go to Birdland, Blue Note and then read about it in 50ties or 60ties. Listen to interviews from old cats. Whole atmosphere has changed. That's not necessarily bad but definetly different. Those who grew up with desire to be part of old bebop jazz scene can't finde it there. So they turn to styles who has similar feel...

Redspy27 (May 16th, 2008 @ 10:15 pm)
That probably is true, but I think Jojo means that HE is done there, he's experienced most things and after spending at least twenty years in the scene, I personally can understand he went off in search of something 'new'. And sorry but THANK GOD he did:P
