This was the first '45' single I ever bought with my pocket money in the early sixties when I was eleven or twelve. Helen was only fourteen - what a mature voice - still sounds so good today.

Thinribs, Rohan O'Rahilly was the fellow that operated Radio Caroline which still exists - check them out on Google. He got his revenge on the Labour Government by mobilizing the youth of the UK in what I think was the 1968 election and drove them out of office. Caroline had buses touring every marginal seat denouncing Labour and jammed their phones with false calls. They were shell shocked. We lived through unique and wonderful times in the 60's.

i spent most nights like most teenagers tuning in to caroline.Total love affair with the pirate station .i think it was an irish guy who used to run it.

If she came on the scene a few years later the selection of songs for her would of been more interesting. This track is an exception. It's a killer track. As Lennon rated her these were his words.

Did she go to John Kelly? Her version of Shop Around is terrific.

Hi hfest08, Radio Caroline was famous in the 60s when the BBC refused to play pop music. It was a true pirate station that operated from a ship in the English Channel just outside the then 3 mile limit. I had a radio with "Radio Caroline" on the dial From the start the UK government said it was illegal and finally and sadly shut it down but not for several years. I used to listen to it when I lived in Newcastle and then Scotland. Radio Eiren also played pop in the 50's Ah, the memories!

hi gordon a franks. Thanks for setting me straight on Radio Luxemberg. Looking it up on Wikipedia you are absolutely right. Did listen to it all through my teenage years and was told by others that it was a pirate station. either way it was my favorite. Could only tune it in on the radio in the dark of winter up there in Northen Norway where I lived at that time. By the way: Never heard of Radio Caroline. Enlighten me please!
